Building the onwards Value Chain and Circular Economy

Aims:

End-to-End Integration: The Centre aims to connect regional mining projects with downstream industries, including the Somerset EV battery gigafactory and UK advanced manufacturing sectors.

Cluster Expansion: It will support the growth of the existing cluster of 70+ service and equipment companies in the region, many of which already operate globally.

Cross-Cutting Research: Led by Fiona Charnley and building on the findings from the NICER CE-Hub and Met4Tech project, the Centre will explore circular business models, life cycle assessments, and data-driven decision-making.

Workshops and Evidence Gathering: A regional forum will convene stakeholders to co-develop circular economy strategies, supported by evidence collection and policy engagement.

Green Finance Alignment: Research will explore how circular economy practices can enhance the attractiveness of projects to sustainable investors.
