The Critical Minerals Challenge Centre at the University of Exeter is a UKRI-funded initiative accelerating responsible critical minerals production. Based in Cornwall, we unite academic expertise and industry partners across four transdisciplinary work packages, driving innovation, sustainability, and economic growth to support the UK’s Net Zero transition.

We envision a thriving UK critical minerals sector-rooted in world-class research, industry collaboration, and sustainable innovation. By 2035, we aim to accelerate responsible production, support Net Zero goals, and drive regional growth through cutting-edge technologies, ESG leadership, and a globally connected supply chain based in South West England.
