We’re a pioneering initiative – funded by UKRI – focused on advancing the responsible production of critical minerals over the next four years. With strong regional roots and global ambition, we support the UK’s transition to Net Zero through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable economic development forming one of UKRI’s Accelerating the Green Economy Centres.
Our research is structured around four interconnected transdisciplinary work packages (different academic disciplines working together alongside our core industry partners; Cornish Lithium, Cornwall Resources, Geolorn and Petrolab). We’ll be looking at innovations in analytical and geometallurgy protocols (TWP1), mine waste valorisation (TWP2), exploration and extraction technologies, (TWP3) and developing new projects along the way (TWP4). This transdisciplinary approach also includes cross-cutting topics of sustainable finance, circular economy, ecology and biodiversity, as well as other areas of expertise.
